Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer as well as a dancer. Her career began with Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent the majority of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors in theatre and on television. she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford will be next starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford will be returning in 2023, and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big character. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. She has also performed in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first part of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
